An idea

What if, rather than intentionally constructing a moment of silence in which distractions are minimised and focus on shared commemoration is consciously forced, focus instead forms around distractions and chaos, which steal attention so completely that facilitation of a contemplative experience is inescapable?

In brief

Living Memories is ambitious. A fusion of high art thinking and academic psychology; unexpected stories are sourced from grassroots history involving servicemen, teachers, students, writers and creatives, and presented through an expansive technological framework permitting engagement at scale. It aims to evoke ideas, genuine emotion and to create new memories.

This project relies upon wide community engagement and documents the process of creating an immersive experience which unites people of all ages and backgrounds behind a common concept: being excited learning about the First World War, without realising how you became invested.
